John Deere Service Advisor with Nexiq clone 90% Worked

FYI, John Deere Service Advisor 90% works with Nexiq China clone.

Topic 1: John deere SA possible with NEXIQ USB Link?

It is possible to install Professional Diagnostic Tools John Deere Service Advisor on your laptop, though the installation is really complicated. If you have a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, the easiest way is to restore the main partition from the image of my computers’ c: drive. And every time i change my laptop, i just restore it.

Win7 installed and fully updated. It takes hours.

The image will not work on XP, but SA works fine. My suggestion, buy used Lenovo T400 or T500. it’s more or less 250 EURO in Europe. Install windows 7 and then can put my image. Takes 10 minutes and u have SA working.

Topic 2: How to get Nexiq china worked?
I spent a month doing research on this and i managed my Heavy Duty Truck Scan Tool Nexiq to work 90%. The thing is that Nexiq has only 2 channels while EDL has 3. The 3rd one is Powertrain and it is used very seldom. E.g. I reprogrammed all the controllers on 6690 premium except two, but found a way around it opening the pld file with pld editor and changing Powertrain channel to Vehicle (channel 1). Lots of machines don’t even have a 3rd Powetrain channel. Like all 5R; 6115R, 6125R, 7280R….. From my experience only the older machines have it and still can be programmed most of the time. Programming controllers is easy, but diagnostics is a bit annoying. Every time you establish the connection u have to remove the USB plug and plug it again for the readings to appear. Connection establishment is taking a long long time and you never see the ECU. Only all the other controllers. So all the time something doesn’t work. If you are prepared for this here is what you have to do:

a) Rewire the the cables as shown in the picture in my post here:
I switched places channel 1 with channel 2 (see the pic) with my Chinese version and now it works fine, probably it was possible to do it adjusting the software settings as mentioned above, but i tried a lot, and nothing helped. Now i can connect, tried with 6125R and 5070M. Works fine!!! Except one very important thingy. After i establish the connection, all the reading give the same meaningless number. Then, I discovered accidentally, I pull out the USB cable, get the message “Connection interrupted” I put it back in, get the message “Connection resumed” and wuolla, all the readings show up immediately.

b) You don’t have to change the firmware. Both will work pretty much the same but with different issues.

P.S. For diagnostics only, there is a subprogram of SA that works without any cable rewiring, it doesn’t have a Program Controller option, and you still need to reinsert the usb after connection has been established. You just need to select the right port (which is usually 1939ImplementAutoboud or 1939AppAutoboud depending on the machine) and model. If you have SA, you will find the software at c:\Program Files\Service ADVISOR\xvds\XJDET.exe

Just to let you know, after a year working like that, i bought another EDL (recommended by a folk in the forum, much much much more than the old one)
So much relief

How to install john deere service advisor 4.2.005 on win 10 64bit

How to install john deere service advisor 4.2.005 with the February 2016 data base disks on a machine with win 10 64bit.

1/you must have enough disk space to download the full set of February 2016 data base (52Gb); it comes with seven iso images and the SA4.0 image and a February 2015 update which you don’t need and of course the activator.

2/use an iso mounter software to mount the SA4.0 image to a virtual drive.

3/browse to the setup file in your virtual drive and run it as administrator

follow the steps (it will prompt for a username and password use those of your windows user account if you’re under 7-8 or 10 windows version)

it will take a while! don’t turn off the computer and don’t worry about the incompatibility messages that windows will show you during the installation process specially for the SQL 2005 server installation.

4/after completing the installation of the SA4.0 reboot the computer and set back the system time to mars 2016.

5/mount the first iso image of the data discs to a virtual drive, browse the sauce folder and run setup file as administrator; wait for it to complete the installation it will launch the SA 4.2.005 at this step you may have a message that the SA 4.2.005 is not capable of launching the search engine don’t worry close it and go to task manager (ctr+alt+sup)

click on services and look for the LightweightIDOL service if it’s stopped than run it.

6/run the activator as administrator and activate the service advisor; don’t use the prolongation tool at this step!.

7/now go to the task manager again and look for the SAupdater

(Solved) John Deere Service Advisor Search Engine Error

This is for anyone when he/she runs the John Deere Service Advisor heavy duty diagnostic software, the system appears error message that the search engine module can not be loaded and then the program ends.

NOTE THAT YOU ARE TRYING ANY TRICK ON YOUR OWN RISK.

Optional solutions:

Solution 1:

Run as system administrator, roll back pc date reactivate using activator Then roll date back to normal date if error still renew once again. Been working for me so far.

Note that, don’t know how long it stay working but works im sure someone will have solution for it soon.

Also advice if doing fresh install roll back the date on pc do the install after then install and activations have been done.
Go to task manager look for the service adviser on have it start its tasks in 2030 :save and then reset your pc date should be good for while

Solution 2:

if you set a date before the lightweightidol license expired, start the lightweightidol service, set the real date and start Advisor, it works.

Solution 3:

start advisor. when error comes with “search engine” Close John Deere SA. afterwards set your PC date to feburary 2015. start SA again (run as administrator). it now comes with error on licence. close SA Again. set pc date back to normal. run SA Again. now it Works.

Solution 4:

The search engine error can be solved.
Set back the date, before the expiry date found in Service ADVISOR\SUIR\license.log (august 14 in my case). Start LightweightIDOL service. Set the real date, and Advisor working again.
I made a batch file to simplify it. To make it work Control Panel/Regional/short date format have to be yyyy-mm-dd or you have to modify batch. Maybe you have to modify ServiceADVISOR.exe path too in the batch. Have to run as administrator.

Solution 5:

I have had the same error with ssearch engine connection in JD SA.
reinstalled it twice, changed system date back and forward, run activator. No result for me.

But actually I found the solution for this issue.

Solution 6:

back date to 08.10.16
install JD SA, restart, activate, mount latest disk you have (05.2016) and install update, for finish get license error, ignore and close, set actualy date, run JD SA -> works fine, install july update

testing today on 3 laptops (Windows 7 and 10)

On a side note: procedure about turning off the updates don’t know how long it stay working but works im sure someone will have solution for it soon.

Also advice if doing fresh install roll back the date on pc do the install after then install and activations have been done.
goto task manager look for the service adviser on have it start its tasks in 2030 :save and then reset your pc date should be good for while Smile (SO TURN IT OFF IN TASKMANAGER SO IT STARTS 20 30 YEARS FROM NOW!!)

Fresh new installations also work but can be much more complicated sure a patch would be much easier. But it can be done with out a patch so far

In taskmanager I don’t stop any service just put service advisor updater to 2030 to start

also makes sure eculp.ini configurator reads like this

How to use Nexiq with John Deere Service Advisor software

Hi, I have two scanner, John Deere EDL v2 and Nexiq usb link. EDL connection with service advisor is perfect. But with usb link, it doesn’t work. The only way where i have connection with usb link is in GetEcuId.

But finally I got Nexiq usb link to work with Service Advisor software

Here is how to operate…

First, you must reflash your Nexiq with Professional Diagnostic Tools John Deere EDL firmware. When you do that, you\ll got EDL as connected device in device manager.

Find original firmware and save it (backup)
C:\NEXIQ\RP1210A\usblink.bin
In John Deere Service Advisor find EDL.bin
I do not remember where it location …
Copy and rename EDL.bin to usblink.bin
replace original C:\NEXIQ\RP1210A\usblink.bin
Go to C:\NEXIQ\Test
open binload.exe
check checkbox – Enable automatic USB-Link firmware update
open CommCheck.exe
firmware will be update
and Nexiq name will be changed – now EDL-Link

Please take a note, that firmware reflash is possible only with original nexiq or HQ nexiq clone, LQ clones can’t be reflashed, even with newer nexiq firmware

It depends on what clone you have, my clone get all updates, works with OBD volvo, and have no issue.

Second, you must modify standard Nexiq 9 pin deutsch cable. just simply revert positions of CAN lines. There is two pairs of CAN lines. Here is instruction and picture how to do that here
